People associate Independence Day with fireworks, parades, barbecues, picnics, baseball games, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. C H I L E Chile officially proclaimed independence on the 12th February 1818, but Chileans celebrate their independence from Spain on September 18th. The day after Independence Day, 19th September, is also a national holiday, the Armed Forces Day. It includes military and naval parades and events celebrating Chiles military victories, including independence. Parades also include huasos, the Chilean cowboys.
